He was born February 21, 1926, near Pella, Iowa, the son of Walter Edwin and Grace Zylstra Den Adel. Early on he went to work at a service station and sold newspapers. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with Elsie, he delighted in the many many miles they walked together. As Elsie's health began to fail, Dutch was a devoted caretaker to her every need and, because of his devotion to her she was able to stay in their home until she passed on February 7, 2002. He enjoyed being social and visiting with people as he made his 'rounds' about Oskaloosa.
His family includes his son: Ron (& Betsy Valbracht) Den Adel of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; his granddaughter: Emily (& Jesse) Den Adel Emery of San Francisco, California; and his close friend June Sarver of Oskaloosa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his two sisters: Jeanetta Dahm and Charlotta Bowen
