Christine Lawyer Anderson, 62, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa surrounded by her family. On September 22, 1949, she was born at Des Moines, the daughter of James and Marjorie Lawyer. Chris attended Ferry Hall Academy at Lake Forest, Illinois; received her B.A. degree in Sociology from Drake University, and later received her Elementary teaching degree from William Penn in Oskaloosa. She did substitute teaching in Oskaloosa and area schools for many years. The past 15 years, Chris worked in customer service at Interpower in Oskaloosa. Chris loved the Lord and delighted in serving Him in life including being a member of the Gateway Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa and the First Assembly of God Church in Des Moines, and taught Sunday School, Bible Studies, and loved working with children. She enjoyed spending loving time with her family and grandchildren; and scrapbooking. She enjoyed spending summers at Big Spirit Lake, especially with her grandmother, Florence Kinsey.

Her family includes her husband, Allen Anderson of Oskaloosa; three sons: Charles Theodore (& Juanita) Wilson of Lovilia; Allen Arthur (& Alison) Anderson II of Gardner, Kansas; and Joshua James (& Myra) Anderson of Des Moines; three grandchildren Christina Marie Wilson of Indianola, and Nicholas Allen Anderson and Maxwell James Anderson of Gardner; her parents: James and Marjorie Lawyer of Sun City Center, Florida; two brothers: James (& Hollie) Lawyer and David (& Robin) Lawyer, all of West Des Moines; and a sister: Cynthia Tomlinson of Des Moines.

Chris was preceded in death by her grandparents: Paul and Florence Kinsey and Merril and Zella Lawyer.

Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Gateway Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa with Pastors Dave Childers and Joyce Hoyt officiating. Private family burial in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, will precede the memorial service. Visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa, on Friday after 10 a.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Birthright of Oskaloosa or to the Ecumenical Food Cupboard in Oskaloosa.
